• American Musicological Society is primarily history-oriented.
• Electronic Music Foundation is devoted to disseminating information about the history of electroacoustic and computer music. The EMF also runs CDeMUSIC, the best place to find books on the history of electronic music. Among them, Joel Chadabe's Electric Sound: The Past and Promise of Electronic Music, a really, really good one.
• Society for Music Theory concerns itself with matters of musical structure.
